Loretta Faye Dempsey of Pilot Knob, Missouri passed away at her home surrounded by her family on August 30, 2023 at the age of 84 years. She was born August 13, 1939 in Reynolds County, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Lucy Mae (Keith) Turner. Loretta and her husband, Bob were fixtures in the Arcadia Valley. They were both very hard workers. She was still working until just a few weeks ago. She worked as an EMT in her younger years and then she and Bob owned and operated Fort Davidson Oil for thirty-five years. They also owned Fort Davidson Muffler and Brake shop and the Pilot Knob Liquor store. She was the sexton of Nelson Cemetery for many years. In her free time she enjoyed camping and boating. The family would frequently go to Clearwater Lake. They enjoyed traveling in their RV. She also liked to go to bluegrass festivals with Bob. Loretta was a strong woman who was the matriarch of the whole family. On October 9, 1965 she was united in marriage to Bob Dempsey who preceded her in death on December 22, 2016. She is survived by five children: Randy and wife, Terri Dempsey of Imperial, Missouri, Christine and husband, Rick Schindler of Maryville, Illinois, David and wife, Melissa Crocker of Arnold, Missouri, Dennis Crocker of Ironton, Missouri, and David Dempsey of Springerton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by Dennis Dempsey. Loretta is grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great grandson. Loretta is survived by one sister, Carroll Williams and her husband, Don. She was preceded by three brothers: John Turner, Joe Turner and Paul Turner and four sisters: Maxine Light, Gladine Hendrix, Della Cash, and Carolyn Kinder. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Mark Sutton officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
