Parkland Loses “Mom”

Lorna Aifaatu Politte, of Park Hills, beloved wife of Charles “Lefty” Politte, passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 83.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Beryl Wilson and Satele Uoka Faga Momoisea, a brother, Sefo Momoisea, and granddaughter, Kiera Politte. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles, five children: Charley Jr. (Marianne) Politte, Richard (Maureen) Politte, Steve (Lisa) Politte, Michele (Jeff) Cunningham, and Melina (Mandy) Politte. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Kegan, Hannah, and Sarah Politte, Monica, Richard, and Matthew Politte, Tyler Politte, Bayley (Chris) Plumlee, Spencer Politte, Melanee (David) Kissinger, Maggee (Landon) Walls, Maycee Cunningham, Lyric Dockery, and 8 great-grandchildren along with sisters Fausina Presock and Junita (Ernest) Loos, brothers Uoka (Charlotte)Momosea and Luci (Kika) Momosea, numerous other relatives  and friends.

Lorna was born Aifaatu Amituana’i on June 20, 1938 in Fagatogo, American Samoa. Charles and Lorna met in Hawaii and were married on July 15,1960, and eventually settled with her husband in his hometown of Elvins, Missouri. She was considered throughout her life to be a striking beauty. Through her generous heart and selfless nature, Lorna was well known for her kindness. As she and Charles raised their five children and over 100 foster children, Lorna also became a beloved “Mom” to everyone she met. She wouldn’t hesitate to help or even correct anyone who was in need. Lorna touched the hearts and lives of so many in the area.

Lorna went on to earn her teaching degree from SEMO, and taught elementary school before retiring in 2000. She also helped run the Politte family businesses, which included Zips and Rio Liso. Lorna was a talented singer, pianist, and dancer, and was always ready to grab her ukulele and pull everyone around her into song. Lorna loved visiting family and friends- she never knew a stranger- and was always ready to share a smile, stories, music and laughter.

Lorna was a member of Church of God, Farmington, and exemplified Christian values throughout her life. She will be deeply missed, and has left behind a legacy of love that is appreciated by so many, and will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, November 1, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Services will be streamed live on our facebook page. Internment immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington, Reverend William Rawson officiating.
