Mabel Lorene Kern

Mabel Kern, 84, of West Palm Beach, passed away January 5, 2015. She was born February 4, 1930, in Leadwood, to the late Uriah and Barbara (Biggs) Licklider. Mrs. Kern is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Kern; daughter, Barbara Lewis (née Schif); and grandson, Robert Reece, III. She attended Leadwood High School, class of 1948, and after high school worked for KMOX-TV until she met and married Charles Schif in 1949. She modeled briefly under the name of Mara Scott in the 1960's in Miami, worked in the cosmetic/perfume industry for over 15 years in both St. Louis and Florida, and retired from the Palm Beach County Tax Collector office in 1995. She married her late husband, Bruce Kern, in 1980. She will be greatly remembered by her loving family, including daughter, Charla Reece (née Schif); grandson, Michael Lewis; sister, June Hulsey, and numerous nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren. A brief graveside gathering will be held on January 14, 2015 at Licklider Cemetery, in Jake Prairie, MO at 1:00 PM.
