Marilyn Hazel Jenkins was born on March 14, 1927 in Bonne Terre, Missouri. She passed away February 26, 2015 at her home. Marilyn had a bachelor's degree in education from Washington University. She taught elementary school at Bonne Terre/North County school system for over 25 years. She married John William Jenkins on June 5, 1947. They were a perfect couple for 67 years. John was born on September 5, 1927 in Lewistown, Missouri. He passed away February 27, 2015 at his home. John was a rural mail carrier for many years, worked at Dolomite, then retired from Prudential Insurance Company after 20 years. John served in the U. S. Navy during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He served on the USS Chevalier DDR-805 and was present for the first atomic bomb testing at Bikini Bay. John and Marilyn worked at the local Bonne Terre grocery store owned by Marilyn's father, R.A. Willa. John was a past Master in the Masons. They were both very active members of Centenary United Methodist Church. Some of their favorite activities were square dancing, playing cards or games and camping. They deeply loved their three children Raymond Taylor Jenkins (Margaret), William John Jenkins (Chris), and Marilyn Sue Thomure (Daniel) and grandchildren Kasey Jenkins, Hanna Jenkins, Jesse Jenkins, Keith Buscher, Kyle Buscher, Sarah Jenkins, Megan Whitehead, Danielle Byrne, Emily McElroy, Kaitlin Thomure and ten great-grandchildren. They will be sorely missed! Visitation will be at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 3:00 pm until 7:30 pm with the VFW Service at 7:00 pm and a Masonic Service at 7:15 pm. Visitation resumes Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm followed by a dinner at the Cornerstone.
