Martha Christina 'Snofke' Nichols passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 1, 2011, at her Farmington Presbyterian Manor residence at the age of 93 years, 8 months & 3 days. Martha was born on April 28, 1917, in St. Louis County, and was the daughter of Rudolph Frederick Snofke and Magdalena 'Toennies' Snofke. Also preceding in death were: her husband, Thomas Sawyer Nichols (1995); a son, John Walker Nichols; 3 Brothers: George Snofke, Frederick Snofke and Paul Snofke; and a sister, Esther Pruetzel.
Martha graduated from Normandy High School and was a retired antique dealer, former election judge, cellist with the St. Louis Women's Symphony and St. Louis Philharmonic, and singer with the St. Louis Bach Choir.
Survivors Include her children - Thomas Frederick Nichols, of Fair Hope, AL; Martha Ann Nichols, of Danville; CA; Nancy Alberta Nichols (& TJ Jacob), of Ft. Collins, CO; James George Milton (& Jennifer) Nichols, of Monterey, CA. A step-daughter, Patricia Ann Webbe, of FL; a brother, Carl Rudolph Theophil Snofke, of Overland, MO., 9 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren & 3 Great, Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, 5-8 p.m. Resuming, Saturday, 6:30 - 10 a.m.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE : Saturday, 11:00 a.m., January 8, 2011, with Rev. Lance Smith officiating.
