Mary Ellen Abernathy

Mrs. Mary Ellen 'Smith' Abernathy passed away Friday morning, November 19, 2010, at the Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 80 years, 3 months & 5 days. Mary was born on August 14, 1930, in Farmington, and was the daughter of Leonard William Smith and Myrtle Ellen 'Cox' Smith. Also preceding-in-death were: her husband, Gervis C. "Jack" Abernathy (2001); 2 Sisters: Wanda L. Pipkin (2003); Norma Dorris Wichman Lewis (2002) and a Brother: Willard Eugene Smith (2002).

Mary Ellen was a longtime faithful member of Delassus Baptist Church.

Survivors Include : 3 Children - Pamela Jean Greenwood, of Cedar Hill, Texas; Gervis Lee "Jack" (& Jere Ann) Abernathy, of Elkridge, Maryland & James Cecil (& Melanie R.) Abernathy, of Columbia, Missouri. 1 Brother, Eddie Lowell (& June) Smith, of Delassus. 4 Grandchildren: Ouida Ellen (& Clayton Michael) Hammer, of Little Elm, Texas; Aaron James Abernathy, of Columbia, Missouri; Matthew Todd Abernathy, of Jefferson City, Missouri & Kimberly Hope Abernathy, of Elkridge, Maryland. 2 Step-Grandchildren: Michael James Childers & Marcus Kirkland Childers, both of Columbia, Missouri. Also surviving are numerous Nieces & Nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, 5-8 pm. Visitation resumes Wednesday, 6:30 am

Funeral : Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., Nov. 24, 2010

at : TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Charles Schrum officiating.

Interment follows at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery.
