Mary Louise Westerfield

Mary Louise Westerfield, age 87 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri (formerly of St. Louis) passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 16, 1937, in Paris, Arkansas to Henry and Bernice (Garne) Cotton.

On June 14, 1958, in Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Dr. Donald Westerfield, he preceded her in death on May 9, 2022.

She is survived by her two granddaughters – Ashley Marie Daniel of Poplar Bluff and Errin Nichole Westerfield of Desoto, Missouri; great granddaughter – Breann Renee Starz and Briella Adaline Hartke; sister – Margaret Fox and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two sons - Ronald H. Westerfield and Dr. Douglas L. Westerfield; brother – John Cotton and sisters – Barbara and Emily.

Mary received her master's degree in Remedial Reading and taught reading at the Hancock Elementary School in Lemay, Missouri; she enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening, going to garage sales, collecting odds and ends and of course, reading; she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arnold, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Arnold, Missouri.
