Maude Ella Duffer, of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the age of 103. She was born on June 4, 1913 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky to Ray and Bertha (Petty) Leisure.  On October 7, 1935 in West Memphis, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Joseph Douglas Duffer, he precedes her in death. She is also preceded by her parents and daughter, Cynthia Lewis, stepson Howard Duffer, brother, Glasford Leisure and sister Madelaine Hooper.      She is survived by one son & daughter-in-law - James & Jackie Duffer of Fredericktown; one daughter & son-in-law - Linda & Pat McCarthy of Cotter, Arkansas; one brother - Bradford Leisure of  Beaver Dam Kentucky and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren in Memphis, Tennessee, Mountain Home, Arkansas, St. Peters, Missouri and Concord, California.       Maude was a woman with many talents with many hobbies. She made beautiful quilts and was a talented seamstress and cook (especially pecan pies and cream puffs). She loved to fish and garden and would give away most of it to her neighbors. Maude loved gospel music and would participate in group singings that visited local nursing homes. She always had a kind and encouraging word for all she met and hoped that her singing served as a testimony to Jesus Christ. During her lifetime she worked at a variety of places, she graduated from the Beaver Dam High School and at the age of 16 she worked as a telephone operator in Beaver Dam. She was primarily a stay-at-home mom and while living in Norfork, Arkansas she volunteered at the North Central Food Bank and was honorary queen of the Cotter Cuties Red Hat Group. Maude helped establish the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church and rarely missed a day of service. While living in Arkansas she attended the Norfork First Baptist Church and was warmly welcomed to their congregation.     Visitation will be from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Internment will be at the Revelle Cemetery in Cherokee Pass, Missouri.     Condolences may be posted on this website.
