Mr. Maurice (Reece-Tru) Antonio Welch was born August 28, 1977, in St. Louis, to Michael Dukes and Diane Welch Clemons. Reece was the second child born to Diane and the late Michael Dukes. Whereas his grandmothers Georgia Welch and Gwendolyn Rose; grandfathers Eddie Wolfe and Hual Dukes; and Uncle Rufus Younge, preceded him in death.  

Reece was educated in the St. Louis Public School District where he attended Cote Brilliant Elementary and graduated from Arcadia Valley High School.  Reece worked for TG Missouri –Toyoda Gosei as a tugger driver in the shipping department. 

 

Reece confessed his hope in Christ at an early age. 

Reece was known as Uncle Reece by his nieces and nephews. Reece was a very loving father, brother, uncle, son, grandfather, and friend. To know Reece was to love him. He was a selfless beautiful soul and would give his last to help anyone.  

Reece’s love for life and people he loved, made him the happiest. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved. Reece loved to share laughter and jokes with a beautiful smile that could be seen across the room. Playing games and cards were a joy for him and Reece enjoyed playing with friends and family, he loved being around them. 

 

Reece shared a special bond with each and every one of his family members. Reece has a very special relationship with his sons and grandson. 

Reece leaves to cherish his loving memories; his children, Tyreece Welch, Isaiah Welch, Dayshawn Welch, Jailen Welch, and Keilen Welch; one grandson Prince Welch; stepfather, Zerick Clemons;  three brothers, Antoine (wife Nakeisha) Welch, Eddie (wife Randi) Welch, LaRico Welch, and Erick Clemons; sisters, Jessica Covington, LaTasha Welch, Jerica (husband Kyle) Plummer Shaw; significant other, Maria Douglas;  mother of his children, Lacy Reaves; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him.  

 

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM.  Reverend James Parker will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington.  Memorials may be directed to Go Fund Me https://gofund.me/3373d658
