Melba Margaret (McDaniel) Conrad of Farmington, MO passed away on October 19, 2025 in Fredericktown, MO at the age of 105 years old. She was born on her family farm on August 7, 1920 outside of Farmington to James Edward and Clara (Young) McDaniel. On September 23, 1945, she married George E. Conrad, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2007 after 61 years of marriage.
Melba was a member of the Libertyville Methodist Church for over 75 years. She graduated eighth grade at Libertyville School and then went on to graduate from Farmington High School in 1940. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures — starting each morning with a cup of black coffee, spending countless hours tending to her yard and garden, and relaxing with a good puzzle. Her quiet strength and appreciation for the little things brought comfort and beauty to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight siblings, Myrtle, Alberta, Iva, Reva, Elliot, Bernice, Zella and Lindell.
Melba is survived by her two children, Patricia (Jesse) Griffin of Bonne Terre, MO and Nancy Conrad of Creve Coeur, MO; two grandchildren, Deanna (Mark) Phillips of Farmington, MO and Dale (Melinda) Griffin of Bonne Terre, MO; two great-grandchildren, Griffin Phillips and Wyatt Griffin. Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews and neighbors.
Visitation will be held at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 9:00 AM until the time of a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Phillips officiating, assisted by Rev. Wayne Phillips.
