Listen to Obituary

Melinda Kay Rothlisberger, 59, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Missouri Baptist Hospital. She was born on Sunday, October 15, 1967.

Melinda enjoyed collecting knickknacks and Native American décor. She loved going for walks and never met a stranger, always taking the time to stop and talk with anyone she encountered along the way. She was known for being strong-willed, stubborn, and set in her ways, but those qualities were part of what made her so special. Melinda was also a loving and dedicated sister and aunt who cherished her family. Above all, she took great pride in being a mother to her children and absolutely treasured being a grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, and the love she had for them will forever be remembered.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Haarmann; her father, Kenneth Rothlisberger; her grandparents, Annabelle and William Nickelson; and her uncles Verlin, William, Greg, and Randy Nickelson.

Melinda is survived by her daughter, Laura (Steven) Butler of Richwoods; her son, John (Dakota) Kane of Bonne Terre; her sister, RaeAnn (Chris) Lord of Perryville; and her brother, Bill Rothlisberger of Ironton. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Heidi and Alex Butler, Aidan, Brayden, and Brooklyn Kane; nephews Matt Yates and Dylan Yates (Courtney Horn), both of Perryville; and three great-nephews, Ace Yates, Draysen, and Daxton Horn. She is further survived by her uncles Curt Nickelson, Mike Nickelson, and Glen (Cheryl) Nickelson; her aunts Tammy Nickelson and Patricia (Bill) Davis; and many cousins and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
