Melvin Lee Brinkley, Jr.

     Melvin "Sonny" Lee Brinkley, Jr., age 54, of Terre Du Lac, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Mercy South (St. Anthony’s) in St. Louis.  He was born on Monday, April 22, 1968, Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Brinkley, Sr. and Lola Ruth (Gray) Smith; brother, Michael Brinkley and  step dad, John Smith

     Melvin was currently employed with Millipore Sigma as an IT Specialist. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #598 in Leadwood, Legacy Life Member of V.F.W. Post 2426 in Desloge, Life Member of AMVETS, American Legion Post #83 in Bonne Terre, Life Member of Order of the Cootie Grape Nuts #56 and he was #1 of “the first 8” District 8 VFW Riders.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Gaddy) Brinkley; children, Amanda Govero and husband Nate, Melvin Lee Brinkley III and fiancée Felicia, Stacy Brinkley; step-children, James Ferrell and Sarah Ferrell and fiancé Will; granddaughter, Harley Govero; siblings, Joyce Berry, Brandon Brinkley, Casey Ezell, Cora Clark and husband Josh and Hannah Brinkley; mother-in-law, Shirley “Mom” Gaddy along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mel was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. 

     Visitation will be held at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. with a V.F.W. service at 5:15 PM and a Masonic service to start at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 9:00 AM until service time of 11:00 AM with Pastor Dean Berry officiating. Burial to follow at Doe Run Cemetery with full military honors.
