Metta Emma Kate Matthews

"Metta" Emma Kate Matthews, age 88 of Jackson, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Estates of Perryville Care Center in Perryville, Missouri. She was born on December 23, 1929 in Marquand, Missouri a daughter of the late Rev. James Hadley Mills and Lula Irene Shrum. She was united in marriage to Norman Matthews who precedes her in death; she is also preceded by her parents and sister - Melba Sharrock; brothers – Julius Mills, Hubert Mills, Donald Mills an infant brother, Charles Mills and nephews - David Mills and Ronnie Griffin. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law – Sheila & Jack Powell of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sisters & brothers-in-law – Mavis & Clyde Revelle of Patton, Missouri and Helen Griffin-Gross of Fredericktown, Missouri; brothers & sisters-in-law – James & Nina Mills of Fredericktown, Ray "Frog" & Clara Mills of Fredericktown, Jesse & Wilma Mills of Patton, Ronnie & Bonnie Mills of Marquand, Missouri and Melvin & Carolyn Mills also of Marquand; brother-in-law – Don Sharrock and sisters-in-law – Janet Hicks and Loretta Mills and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Metta was a retired hairdresser; she loved playing the piano, attending church and taking care of her yard and gardening. She was a kind loving woman and will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October12, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., also on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Mills officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Light Cemetery near Fredericktown. Condolences may be posted on this website.
