In Loving Memory of Michael Shane Laurence. "Mike"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Shane Laurence "Mike" a man who lived life with unparalleled passion, unyielding generosity, and a zest that few could match. Mike left us on October 24,2024, at his home in Farmington, Missouri,  but his spirit will echo forever in the lives he touched and the stories he left behind.

Born on November 8, 1975, to Debra Ann Laurence, Mike was a force of nature from the start. Anything he did he did it all with a fearless energy that captivated everyone around him. Friends, family, and even strangers quickly learned that when Mike was in the room, you could expect laughter, bold ideas, conspiracy theories and a generosity that knew no limits.

On September 13, 2003, in Farmington, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marcie Rae Wallace who survives him at their home.

Other survivors are his two children, Cole Laurence (Kayla Miller), Erica Downs and husband Kory both of Farmington who were his greatest pride and joy; two grandchildren – Mason and Jack Downs-Laurence; sisters – Christina Rupert and husband Doug of Collinsville, Florida, Samantha Miller and Jennifer Young both of Desloge, Missouri and Sabrina Young of Arnold, Missouri; mother-in-law – Glenda Wallace; mother & father-in-law – Diana & Chris Watkins; sister-in-law – Melissa Stull and husband Gary; brother-in-law – Tyler Wilson and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Debra Ann (Laurence) Young and father -in-law Eric Laurence.

Mike owned and operated Laurence Drywall Company in Farmington; he enjoyed bike riding, Tik Tok and music; he loved playing and watching basketball and had played college basketball at Mineral Area College and Louisiana Tech. Above all he enjoyed time with his friends and family and making them laugh.  As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend Mike was as vibrant and supportive as he was in every other aspect of his life. He knew the value of true connection and was always the first to lend a hand or offer sage advice with that trademark twinkle in his eye. He believed that life was meant to be savored, each moment a story to be lived and shared.  Mike's legacy goes beyond his accomplishments. His presence was a reminder to live boldly, love deeply, and laugh often. As we say goodbye, let us carry forward his spirit by continuing to embrace life as fully as he did.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Missouri and from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, also at Wilson Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life will be held November 2, 2024, at Twin Oaks Vineyard 2:00-4:00. Friends and family are encouraged to share stories and most importantly, laughter.
