Michael Ray Looney, went to his heavenly home December 30, 2021 with a smile on his face.
Born March 22, 1949 to the late Irma Jean (Forshee) Slinkard and Ross Eugene Looney. Also preceded in death by his step-dad who raised him, James Slinkard; grandparents, Arthur and Susie Forshee and Jim and Grace Slinkard.
Mike served 4 years in the U.S. Army with a tour in Vietnam, where it was later discovered he had contacted agent orange. Upon discharge from the Army, he worked as an electrician and for his father-in-law, Weible Plumbing. He started working for Bill Davis Electric in 1974 until the time the company closed. His last job was at Flat River Electric, where he worked until his retirement in 2011.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Kay (Weible) Looney (married in 1969). They had two children, James (Lisa) Looney and April (David) Pinkley; thirteen grandchildren, Bailey (Derek) Richard, Brendan Moore, Grace Moore, Jacob (Marissa) Looney, Zavion Laster, Ella Mitchem, Paige Barton, Devin Black, Lindsey Pinkley, Rachel Pinkley and Zach Pinkley; six great-grandchildren, Addy, Ava and Luke Richard, Callie Barker, and Cora and Ash Pinkley; Surviving siblings are Ron (Susie) Forshee, Larry (Mary) Looney, Jeannie (Dale) McCoy, Jim (Evelyn) Slinkard, Tom (Jamie) Slinkard, and Lloyd (Paula) Slinkard. Several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, January 2, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on January 3, 2022 at Gospel Light Free Will Baptist Church in Bonne Terre from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Larry Allison officiating. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Park Hills. Memorials can be made to Camp Hope. http://www.camphopeusa.org/
