Michael Florian Koppeis, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on Monday, November 24, 1952, in Bonne Terre to the late C. E. "Kopie" and A. Lucille Koppeis, Mike spent his life dedicated to his family, faith, and community. He resided in Farmington, where he became a beloved figure known for his warm heart and generous spirit.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his twin brother, Richard Koppeis, and sisters, Judy Clare Koppeis and Jennifer Scalzitti.
Mike had a fulfilling career in medical sales and was a member of several organizations, including St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Men's Clown Club, and the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765. As a devoted Catholic, he engaged actively in church activities and consistently lent his support to fundraisers, embodying the values of kindness and service.
A talented musician, Mike shared his passion for music with those around him. He formed the band Nite Cap in high school with fellow band members, Danny and Sandy Wade, Brad Wade, Butch Wade, and Cab Calloway. They enjoyed entertaining audiences all around the area. His love for music did not end there; Mike cherished playing and singing with his grandson, Carson, and he and Pat were Carson’s biggest fans, traveling all over to listen to his band and building a music studio at the house for them.
In earlier years, Mike enjoyed boating, camping, cars, riding horses, motorcycles, and dirt bikes, and driving his side-by-side. He found immense joy in the great outdoors and cherished the time spent with family during these adventures. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother and never hesitated to tell everyone all about his family.
Mike is survived by the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Pat Koppeis, and their three children: Rick (Stephanie) Koppeis, Joey (Mark) O’Neal, and Julie (Chris) McTearnen. He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Kathy Koppeis, Michael Koppeis, Riley O'Neal, Bailey O'Neal, Carson Golden Koppeis, and Caden McTearnen, as well as his great-grandson, Belken Weddle. He will also be missed by his siblings: Sue (Dr. Frank) Luechtefeld, Pat (Deacon Mike) Burch, Theresa (John) Ponzar, Joe (Patty) Koppeis, Chuck (Chris) Koppeis; sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Dr. Jim) Egan, Sylvia (Herb) Delehanty, and Mary O’Connor along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
