Morris "Fred" Singleton

Morris Fredrick Singleton passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on September 4, 2026, at the age of 81. Morris, known as “Fred,” to those near to him, was born in Princeton, Indiana on February 10, 1945, to the late Gaskel and Paulina Floy Singleton.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his siblings Larry Singleton, Mary Willis, and Juanita McIntire.

Fred built a successful career working for General Motors, and the United Auto Workers (UAW), where he met several of his lifelong friends. Outside of work, Fred was often found on his boat on a lake fishing, deer hunting, or golfing on the nearby golf course.

Along with his successful career, Fred created a beautiful family with whom he is leaving a lasting legacy. Fred married Dabra Willingham, known to those who love her as “Debbie,” on June 5, 1965. They had two daughters, Shelly and Terri. It wasn’t long before Fred and Debbie went from “Mom and Dad,” to “Mammaw and Pappaw.” Shelly married Jeff Williams and had two children, Jay and Kelsey, and Terri married Darrell Coulter and also had two children, Courtney and Ty.

Anyone who knew Fred knew that his grandkids were the center of his world. He introduced them to his outdoor hobbies, and you could often find one of them tagging along behind him. Fred and Debbie soon spent their summers sightseeing across the country in their RV with Jay, Kelsey, Courtney, and Ty. As their grandkids got older, the RV trips didn’t stop, they just changed into trips following each one in their pursuit of sports, namely basketball. Fred spent countless hours in a gym watching basketball games, and there was rarely a time when you couldn’t find him in the stands cheering on some of his greatest accomplishments in life.

As Fred aged, his family continued to grow. Jay went on to marry Katie Peterson, and had two children, Della and Pratt, Kelsey married Taylor Heckemeyer and had their daughter, Monroe, and Courtney married Colton Wooldridge, and had their two children, Penelope and Coulter.

Fred was known for his big (and oftentimes serious) personality. He is already so very missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Masonic service will be held at 6:00 PM to honor Fred. The visitation will resume Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the service time of 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Garden Cemetery in Farmington.
