Nedra Gilliland

Nedra (Bowen) Gilliland, 81, of Desloge, departed this life November 24, 2020 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. She was born March 3, 1939, in St. Francois County to the late Everett and Alice (McCrorey) Bowen. Nedra was a faithful member of the Parkview Freewill Baptist Church in Desloge for many years and gave her heart to the Lord at an early age. She loved serving the Lord in many capacities. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, teaching, reading the bible and being in church worship services. She also enjoyed her nieces and nephews and making sure she never forgot their birthdays and spending many happy occasions with them. Nedra had many special friends who she enjoyed entertaining in her home or going out with them for a meal. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Henry Francis; her only son, James Henry Francis II; brother, Duane (Butch) Bowen; and niece, TrishaWeible.

Nedra is survived by her husband, Robert Gilliland; step-children, George and Julie Gilliland, Gary and Helen Gilliland, GayLynn and David Eads; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy (Danny) Pettus, Jane (Jim) Weible and one sister in-law, Teri Bowen; several nieces, nephews, friends and church family members also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, November 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Reverend David Watkins will be officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Bismarck. Memorials may be directed to Parkview Freewill Baptist Church in Desloge.
