Nora Mae Douglas formerly of Bismarck, Missouri passed away March 23, 2024 at Community Manor in Farmington, Missouri at the age of 97 years. She was born January 16, 1927 in Caledonia, Missouri the daughter of the late Samuel Alfred and Lena (Vineyard) Moore. On March 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to John Paul Douglas who preceded her in death in 2003 after fifty-six years of marriage. They were the parents of Marcella Midgett (Darrell) of Bismarck, Missouri, and John L. Douglas (Jack Breier) of St. Louis, Missouri. Two grandchildren are left to mourn her passing: Mellanie Smallen (Todd) and Melissa Evans, and five great grandchildren: Ethan, Madison, Ivan, Katherine, and Nicole as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Nora was preceded in death by both of her brothers: John Moore and Leonard Moore. Nora was a graduate of Ironton High School. She was a homemaker and was the best grandmother in the world to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her family and raised a family that remains close. She enjoyed farm life and the chores that came with raising a family on a farm. She did whatever she could to help her family. She was known for leaving notes to them. She loved her adopted families at Community Manor and Gentiva Hospice. Nora lived a long life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Nora’s family wishes to thank the staff at Community Manor and Gentiva Hospice for the care and love they have shown their mother over the past ten years. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home with Pastor Joshua Burgard officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Caledonia Methodist Cemetery next to her husband. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
