Norbert Gregory Wagner, age 90, of French Village passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Evelyn’s House hospice in Creve Coeur. He was born on January 13, 1932, in the St. Louis area to the late Joseph and Margaret (Schmaltz) Wagner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life for 51 years, Ann Elizabeth Wagner; three brothers - Clarence, August, and Charles Wagner; and three sisters - Loretta Steelman, Lucille Palazzolo, and Irene Politte.
Norbert was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church in French Village and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a strong advocate for preborn children and the Pro-Life movement. Always an avid reader, in his retirement he also raised cattle, tended his garden, made wine, and helped wife Ann with canning, pickling, and making homemade jellies and preserves. He, along with Ann, also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years in the Bonne Terre community.
He is survived by two children, James “Jim” Wagner and Julia “Julie” Boswell and husband Nate; and one grandson, Liam Boswell.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in French Village on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James A. Holbrook as celebrant. Immediately following will be a graveside service and burial at St. Anne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Birthright, Catholic Charities of St. Louis, or Catholic Relief Services.
