Norma Lee (Rainey) Tripp, age 86, of Fredericktown, MO, moved on to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 20th, 2021, at 12:43pm, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. Norma was born May 23, 1935, in Mill Creek, MO, to John Cecil and Anna Mae (Johnson) Rainey. She grew up in a close family with her 11 siblings: Irene (Gabe) Tesreau, Anna Mae (Lee) Chapman, Jerry (Ed) Evans, Lillian (Danny) Johnson, JC (Zella) Rainey, Etta Lou (Emmett) Wray, Wayne Rainey, Willard (Pat) Rainey, Marie (Bud) Whitaker, Roy (Pat) Rainey, and Carl (Joyce) Rainey. On August 18th, 1951, she married Edwin Tripp, who survives. To that marriage were born three children: Perry Dale (Jan) Tripp of Jackson, MO, Sheri Gale (Jeff) Hudnall Harrison of Fredericktown, MO, and Sheila Tripp of Fredericktown, MO, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Jim) Sikes, Tabitha Hudnall, Kristen (Jason) Starkey, Isaiah Hudnall and Lindsey (Chris) Smith, and 11 great grandchildren: Anna Sikes, Orion, Phoenix & Gavin Taylor, Matthew & Andrew Starkey, Carson & Brayden Hudnall, Cody Smith and Fred & Nova Wood. One of Norma's greatest joys in life was her family. She always looked forward to hosting the annual Rainey Family Reunion every May and did so for over 30 years.
Norma was a loving servant of our Lord. She was a charter member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church and worked in numerous positions, including Sunday School teacher, bus ministry, treasurer, Bible school teacher and church camp volunteer. In 1986, she was recognized as the Missouri Sunday School Teacher of the Year for her leadership in promoting growth in the Sunday School program. Norma was owner/operator of Merle Norman Cosmetics. As a cancer survivor, Norma was an avid supporter of the annual Relay for Life Walk-a-Thon. She volunteered at the Senior Nutrition Center for many years, then transitioned to the Senior Thrift Shop, later serving as the volunteer coordinator until her retirement at the end of 2020. Norma also enjoyed helping with Compassion Café each month. She loved fishing, watching auto racing and the St. Louis Cardinals. Throughout her life, Norma has been a blessing to her family, friends, the sick and those in need. Her memory and generosity will live on in our hearts to guide and influence us. Hers was a life well lived.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., also on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor David McCutcheon officiating.
Interment will be at Snowdenville Cemetery near Fredericktown.
