O'Dell "Dale" Collins

In loving memory of O’Dell Dale Collins, a woman whose gentle spirit graced each life she touched, it is with a heavy heart that we announce her passing on Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri. As she departs from this world, we remember her as a devoted mother to her children: Frank, Cathy, Cindy, and Dan, and a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Born to Ernest E. and Ada June (Collins) McCullough on Thursday, August 16, 1934, in Grant Parrish, Louisiana, Dale’s life was like a garden, where she lovingly nurtured growth and beauty. She tended to various plants and flowers over her lifetime, growing gorgeousness and strength. Her hands, skilled in the art of upholstery, brought new life to old furniture, a true artisan in her own right. Despite hardships and challenges, she remained resilient and steadfast in her pursuits.

As we honor her memory, we reflect on the joy she brought through her Christmas cookies, jams, and jellies, a sweet reminder of her love that will forever linger in our hearts. Dale’s sweet smile blessed everyone around her. She loved to dance and listen to the hymns she grew up with. She was dedicated to Jesus Christ and attended Aulsbury Chapel when she lived near the Bonne Terre, Missouri area.

Dale was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Grace Snodgrass; Lee Collins her partner married 32 years; a son-in-law, Larry Winch; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Collins.

She is survived by her four children: Frank Collins, Cathy Winch-Henson and her husband, Denver Henson, Cindy Canfield and her husband, John M. Canfield II, and Dan Collins and his wife, Gabby Collins; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Corey and Tina Winch, Kyle and Schea Winch, Andrew and Alaina Winch, Clara Seleena Canfield, and Anthony Jones, Johnell Canfield and Kyle Kapella, John M. Canfield III, (Maclee) Canfield, Derek Collins, Ben and Chelsea Collins, and Theo Collins; twelve great-grandchildren, Kayliegh, Kamryn, Kollin, Raegan, Morgan, Avery, Annabel, Rush, Rip, Emma, Easton and Ainsley; five siblings: Margie Gilley, Ida Moore, Norma Cruze, Eugene McCullough, and Curtis McCullough, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

In celebrating her life, we invite all who knew and loved O’Dell “Dale” to join us by celebrating her life on Monday, February 26, 2024, at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
