Orvil Sikes

Orvil Murrill Sikes, age 96 passed away December 24, 2014 at St. Joe Manor. He was born January 8, 1918 at Dexter, MO to the late James and Irene (Woolem) Sikes Preceded in death by parents, his wife Gertrude (Huff) Sikes, and three brothers, Olin, Alvin, and Herschel Sikes. Mr. Sikes is survived by one daughter, Linda (Rick) Poston of Desloge, two grandsons, Richard (Emily) Poston of New Bloomfield, MO, and Charles Poston of Columbia, MO, and two great-granddaughters, Clara and Alice. Mr. Sikes was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Bonne Terre. Worked at Bonne Terre Hospital for 42 years. Played guitar with Mel Weems and the Westernaires and participated in nursing home ministry as a member of the Singspirations. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume Monday at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bonne Terre with a service to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ron Poole officiating. Interment will be at Bonne Terre Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Bonne Terre.
