Pansy Olene Slinkard, age 95, of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown. She was born on September 9, 1929, to William Henry and Mary Edith (Bennett) Green. On July 15, 1950, in Patton, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Oda Columbus Slinkard, he preceded her in death on March 26, 1975.


She is survived by one daughter & son-in-law – Linda & Doug Ferris; five grandsons – Rick (Beth) Simmons and Jared Simmons, Rory (Lindsey) Renk, Levi (Alexis) Hawkins and Orrin (Haley) Hawkins, and one granddaughter – Abigail (Garrett) Rice; eleven great grandchildren – Reid Simmons and Mayci (Clayton) Komar, Lucy and Nolan Renk, Tristan and Dylan Hawkins, Beckham, Jack, and Goldie Hawkins, and Zane and Arlo Rice.


In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one daughter – Rita Simmons, one brother – Macil Green who gave his life for his country on July 3, 1943, in Normandy, France and two sisters – Wilma (Ray) Slinkard and Louise (Jake) Pogue.


Pansy was a retired teacher; she began her teaching career two weeks before her seventeenth birthday and continued to teach in the public schools in Bollinger and Madison counties for forty-one years. She received several awards and recognitions throughout her career; The Missouri House of Representatives recognized her as an outstanding Missouri Citizen and she was selected as S.E. Missouri Teacher of the Year; Pansy was of the Baptist faith, she turned her life over to the Lord at a very early age, she spent her entire life attending and working in the church where she taught an Adult Sunday School class for over fifteen years for which she was awarded the Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher of the year in 2005.


In addition to teaching, she enjoyed reading, traveling, and gardening; Pansy loved people and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.


Visitation will be from 10:00 - 12:00 on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Cowboy Church in Fredericktown.


Funeral services will be held at 12:00 also on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Cowboy Church in Fredericktown with Pastor Steve Francis and Bro. Tommy Fults officiating.


Interment will follow at the Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill, Missouri.
