Paul Gilmer, 54, of Farmington, passed away, January 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving friends and family. He was born in St. Louis, April 10, 1960 to the late Tony and Ruth (Crump) Gilmer. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and John Gilmer; and one brother in-law, Dr. Gary McCord. Paul had a passion for making people laugh, western movies, hunting and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews. For 25 years, he devoted his life to serving the local residents as a member of the St. Francois County Ambulance District and volunteer firefighter. In his time as an EMT, he had the opportunity to be a bright light to countless people and the lengthy list of those he has touched with his kindness continues to grow. Paul loved to tell jokes and laugh, and exchanged some lively teasing with those that he treasured the most. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and his close-knit work family of first responders. Paul is survived by his wife, Charma (McCord) Gilmer; one sister, Lou Ann (Rick) Tesreau of Fredericktown, one sister-in-law, Eva Gilmer; two brother in-laws, Richard (Eleanor) McCord of Imperial, and Keith (Joann) McCord of Mount Pleasant TN; nieces and nephews, Lisa (John) Kitners, Jennifer (Jim) Sikes of Farmington, Jacquelyn McCord (Albert) Gonz of Ste. Genevieve, Matt (Jennifer) McCord of Canton, GA, Kristen (Jason) Starkey of Fredericktown, Holly (John) Dugger and Ryan McCord of Mount Pleasant, TN, Jonathan (Diane) Gilmer, and Lindsey (Chris) Smith of Fredericktown; seventeen great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece. Visitation will be Sunday January 18, 2015 from 12 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will resume Monday at 8:30 am at First Baptist Church in Desloge with funeral service at 10 am with Pastor Ben Durbin and Pastor Rocky Good officiating. Interment will follow at Bismarck Oddfellows Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested towards the Paul Gilmer Memorial Fund.
