Peggy Joann Benson

Peggy Joann Benson, 81, of Fredericktown, MO passed away December 13, 2025 at Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown. She was born March 10, 1944 in St. Francois County, MO to the late Ferman and Muralene (Lawrence) Walker. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially traveling on vacations throughout the South and spending meaningful time with her beloved family. A dedicated and talented hairdresser, she proudly owned and operated her beauty shop in Fredericktown for more than 34 years, where she not only styled hair but also built lasting friendships within the community. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of New Hope Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and purpose.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her four siblings, Dorothy Kay, Frances Walker, Bonnie Guinn and Lee Walker.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert A. Benson; five children, Craig Wright, Jackie Day (Tom), Calvin Wright (Tonya), Tracy Wright (Shelia), Gina Crisp (Paul). Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Wilson Chapel in Fredericktown from 11:00 AM until the time of a funeral service at 1:00 PM with Rev. David McCutcheon officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Lick Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
