It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peggy Sue Gibbons, of Terre du Lac. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who entered eternal rest on August 6, 2025, at Jefferson Mercy in Festus. Born on September 24, 1959, in Festus, Peggy was the cherished daughter of Earnie and Delores “Nadine” (Wideman) Cook.
Peggy's journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family. After dedicating 20 years of her life to working at the local glass factory, she embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom with grace and passion. Her home was a haven filled with laughter, warmth, and delicious meals that she lovingly prepared. The joy of hosting gatherings with family and friends as well as planning reunions, brought her immense satisfaction, as did her cherished vacations in Florida or somewhere on a beach.
A woman of many interests, Peggy found joy in cross-stitching and lost herself in the melodies of her favorite music. However, it was her love for her family that truly defined her. She shared her life with her devoted spouse, David “Brad” Gibbons, and fostered strong bonds with those fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nadine Cook; father in-law, Dave Gibbons; cousin, Andy Gammon and stepfather in-law, Louis Hinkle.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, David “Brad” Gibbons; daughter, Amy Jo Gibbons and fiancé Corey Felty; father, Earnie Cook and wife Barbara; siblings, Danny “Cooky” Cook, Pam Sumpter and husband Kevin, Greg Cook; and mother in-law, Nancy Hinkle; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will resume, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Greg McCord will be officiating. Interment will follow at Sandy Cemetery in Hillsboro.
As we remember Peggy, let us hold onto the warmth of her spirit and the joy she brought to our lives. In her memory, let us cherish our loved ones, just as she cherished each of us.
