It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Persephone Anjanette Berger, a bright light in the lives of many, who left us too soon at the age of 16 on October 3, 2026. Persephone was born November 23, 2009, in Farmington to her loving parents, Jarrad and Anneliese (Schroeder) Berger, in Park Hills, Missouri.
Throughout her years, Persephone blossomed into a caring and compassionate young woman, always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. A passionate member of her school choir since fifth grade, she filled the halls with her beautiful voice and infectious enthusiasm. Persephone was not only an avid Harry Potter fan, but also a devoted friend who cherished her friendships deeply. She had an outgoing spirit and was affectionately known as a social butterfly, radiating warmth and kindness to those around her. In her free time, Persephone loved to embark on hikes and engage with nature, cherishing the adventures she shared with her friends and family. She had a special bond with her beloved dog, Max, and a fondness for cats, sharing her home with her furry companions.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anneliese Mitchell, Jimmy Goforth, James “Jim” Berger and Susan Faye Simmons.
Persephone is survived by her parents; siblings, Allison Joy Berger, Rion James Berger and Skylar Faye Berger; aunts, Kimberly Berger, Kimberly Dreisewerd and Danielle Mitchell; uncles, James Berger, Jon Mitchell, Daryl Schroeder, Aaron Mitchell, Chris Mitchell and Jimmy Goforth; other family members and numerous friends also survive.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, October 9, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will resume, Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the service time at noon. Pastor Ryan Retzer will be officiating.
