It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Phillip Frederick Goetz Sr., beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, at the age of 87, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Son of the late Edward and Ellen (Germon) Goetz, he was born on Monday, January 30, 1939, in Salem, New Jersey.
In addition to his parents, Phillip is preceded in death by his first wife, Clara (Manus) Kavanaugh; second wife, Susan (Wohlschlaeger) Goetz; and brother, Jared Goetz.
Phillip proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956 until his discharge in 1959. After his military service, he embarked on career as a factory worker with McDonnell Douglas, where his problem-solving skills and industrious nature shone brightly.
Phillip was a man of numerous talents and interest; he was not only an efficient worker but also an avid traveler who cherished spending winters in Florida or Texas. His love for the great outdoors was evident through his enjoyment of fishing and camping, where he created lasting memories. Phillip’s inventive spirit led him to build a submarine, and he dedicated countless hours to working on cars.
He is survived by his children, Cassandra (Frank) Twitchell, Phillip (Andrea) Goetz Jr., and Brian Goetz; grandchildren: Brad (Sarah) Rogers, Justin Rogers, Stephanie (Trevor) De Noyer, Maggie Goetz, and Mason Goetz; and great-grandchildren: Lucas, Emma, Autumn, Aubrey, Dawson, Isaiah, and Ember. Also surviving are many family members and friends. Phillip will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at C.Z. Boyer and Son—Bryson Chapel in Pilot Knob, Missouri, from 3:00pm until the service time 5:00pm. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bart Goetz.
