With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Phyllis Ann (Reese) Hulsey. She passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 86 at Parkland Hospital in Farmington. Born on Friday, October 27, 1939, Phyllis resided in Bonne Terre, where she contributed to her community and brought joy to those around her. 

Phyllis dedicated a significant part of her life joining her husband in his 20 year career in the military and later to her work as a switchboard operator and mailroom clerk at the Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center in Farmington, where her warm voice and kind demeanor made a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served. Prior to her tenure at the state hospital, she worked in the credit card department at Sears Department Store, showcasing her strong work ethic and dedication in all her endeavors.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Zelma (Miller) Reese; beloved husband, Charles Brownie Hulsey, son, James “Rick” Hulsey; siblings, Ed Reese, Wanda Elaine McWilliams, Delbert Reese and Betty Wilfong

In her earlier years, she cherished bowling, sewing, and crocheting, expressing her creativity through her crafts. She also loved solving crossword puzzles in the Daily Journal and going on peaceful road trips through the countryside, each journey a treasured memory.

Phyllis is survived by her devoted daughter, Stacy Holcomb; bonus son, Darren Wilkins; her 4-legged companion, Missy, along with other family and friends. Together, they will carry her spirit forward, celebrating the kindness and love she shared throughout her life.

Visitation will be held at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Thursday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 9:00 AM until service time of 12:00 Noon with Pastor Rich White officiating. Burial to follow at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials if desired can be made in Phyllis’s memory to the Farmington Pet Adoption Agency.
