It is with heavy hearts, yet joyful memories, that we celebrate the life of Ralph M. Stamm, Sr., who journeyed from this world to the next on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Ralph was born on Sunday, February 4, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Edward and Loretta (Wirtel) Stamm.

Ralph graced our lives with his presence for 86 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, teaching, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Ralph shared an extraordinary bond of more than 64 years with the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Stamm. Together, they nurtured and encouraged their two children, Beverly and Ralph, Jr., creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments. Ralph took immense pride in his role as an educator for 34 years within East St. Louis School District 189, where he cultivated eager minds and inspired countless students. He often nurtured their love for chess while sharing lessons that extended far beyond the classroom.

A devoted member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre for more than 20 years, Ralph found solace and joy in the embrace of his church family. He and Pat poured their hearts into the community, from preparing meals to serenading the congregation with their voices in the choir. Their unwavering spirit and generosity touched the lives of many, and their friendships blossomed within the vibrant Terre du Lac community.

In his leisure, Ralph found joy in quiet moments fishing, traveling to new horizons, and indulging his passion for collecting model trains. A lover of history and an avid reader, his curious mind was a treasure trove of knowledge that he eagerly shared with all who crossed his path.

Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his daughter, Beverly Moore, and son-in-law, Tom; son, Ralph Stamm, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Nancy; his cherished sister, Elaine Bastl; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Each of them is a testament to Ralph’s legacy of love, family, and learning.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Stamm.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a date.

Ralph M. Stamm, Sr. will be dearly missed, but his spirit, like the sweetest melody, will echo in our hearts forevermore.
