Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Artie Nickel, who left us peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on May 13, 1950, in St. Louis, Ray spent his life as a hardworking truck driver, navigating the open roads. He was a proud member of the Lutheran faith.

He had a flair for woodworking, which he enjoyed immensely, but it was his love for socializing and connecting with others that truly defined him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Daughday and Billy Reed; and stepdad, Billy Reed.

Ray is survived by three children, Julie Lichtenegger and husband Bryan, Raymond Donald Nickel, Louis Nickel and fiancée Heather Wright; grandchildren, Devin, Gavin and Chelsee Lynn Nickel, Taven and Tace Nickel, Stephanie and Evan Lichtenegger; siblings, Patricia Davis, Betty Wade (Dave), David Reed (Kathryn), Sam Reed (fiancée Gail Pendegraft); nieces, Brenda Brand (Kevin), Linda Moore (Brian), Lisa Conley (Robert), and Fawn Dowd (Tracy); nephew, Shane Davis (Carrie Moss); along with several other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM until the service time of 6:00 PM.
