Regina Iona Guess, known to most as “Jo” passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital on October 17, 2024 at the age of 75 years. She was born October 21, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late John and Verna (Brown) Wunderlich. Jo graduated from Orchard Farms High School in St. Charles, Missouri. She loved to help people, and she spent twenty-five years working for Village North Retirement Center with BJC as a housekeeper helping the residents. She loved her residents. Jo also loved to fish and go camping. She was an outdoors girl. She was a big St. Louis Cardinal fan. She also loved music – especially from the 50’s and 60’s eras. Most of all Jo loved her family and her grandchildren and the time spent with them. She was a member of Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Jo is survived by her daughters: Theresa Dell and husband, Buddy Dell of Belleview, Missouri, Kimmy Misir and husband, Naresh of North Fort Myers, Florida, Jessie McGowen and husband, Dave of Bunker Hill, Illinois and her adopted daughter, Shelia Guess of Bismarck, Missouri. Jo loved the grandchildren that are left to mourn her passing: Lillian McGowen, Evan McGowen, Maxwell Lee, Michael Lee, Matthew Lee, Trowa Vasquez and Freedom Vasquez. Jo came from a large family, and she leaves behind three brothers: John Wunderlich, Marvin Wunderlich, and Bob Wunderlich and three sisters: Eunice Gibson, Patricia Stutko, and Ellen Niemeyer. Her brother Eugene Wunderlich preceded her in death. Jo was a special Mom to many and lent a helping hand to many young people over the years. She would help anyway that she could and did not turn away from being a surrogate Mom to those who needed her. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 12:00 Noon from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Allison officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Goodland, Missouri following the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
