Rev. Clyde E. West passed away April 2, 2006, at his Farmington Presbyterian Manor residence at the age of 82 years, 9 months & 13 days. Clyde was born on June 19, 1923, in LaHarpe, KS, & was the son of Clyde E. West, Sr., & Anna Jane 'Rimmel' West Clemans. He was also preceded-in-death by: his step-father, Claude S. Clemans & an infant son, Courtney Eugene West. Clyde completed pre-flight training as a aviation cadet for one year with the United States Naval Reserve; He was a Medical Aidman for 25 months as a Medical Detachment for the 232nd Batallion of the Rainbow Division of the US Army. He served in France, Germany & Austria. He received the WWII Victory Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; American Theater Ribbon; EAME Theater Ribbon & 2 Bronze Stars. He taught 2 years in the Salem Rural Country School (1948-1950), near Iola, KS. He received his B.A. Degree at Kansas State Univ., Pittsburg, KS, in 1951, and completed his training as a Presbyterian minister from McCormich Church of St. Louis, in Nov. 1954. He served as the Pastor of the 1st United Presbyterian Church of Bemet, IL (1955-57); Westfield Presbyterian Church, Ft. Wayne, IN (1957-61); associate Pastor of Nelson Presbyterian Church, St. Louis (1961-67) & pastor of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, St. Louis (1967-86). He was a member of the Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery of St. Louis, MO. Rev. West & his wife have made their home in the Farmington Presbyterian Manor since 1988, where he has been active in: Kiwanis Club; American Legion Post #416; Masonic Temple; Scottish Rite; Shrine Moolah & the Farmington Ministerial Alliance. Rev. West wrote & directed the phone-tape daily ministry, which was very popular from 1992-94. The "West Chapel" was dedicated Dec. 28, 2003, in honor of Rev. West to the Presbyterian Manor by Dr. Carol Willman & Marjorie Blight.

Survivors Include: his wife of 56 years, Helen Louise 'Crouch' West, of Farmington; 3 Daughters: Clydea L. 'Mrs. Dennis' Hampel, of Fayetville, IL., Althea 'Mrs. Ben' Hensley, of St. Charles, MO; Annetta M. 'Mrs. William' Curtis, Jr., of Atlanta, GA; 1 Son, Curtis E. (& Susan) West, of Denver, CO; 1 Sister, Mable M. 'Mrs. Rev. Paul' Seyffer, of New Salem, ND, Also surviving are 7 Grandchildren.

Visitation: Tuesday, 4-8 pm at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, Farmington.

Visitation resumes: Wednesday, 10 am - 1 pm at Hoffmeister's Colonial Chapel - 6464 Chippewa - St. Louis (314) 832.7770

Funeral: Wedesday, 1 pm, April 5th at Hoffmeister's Colonial Chapel.

Interment with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery - St. Louis Co., MO.
