Rev. Conway R. Huffman

Reverend Conway “Tex” Huffman passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2025, at the age of 100 years, 9 months and 29 days. He was born on August 29, 1924, in Parma, MO to the late Powhatten “PT” and Dolly (Robbins) Huffman. He grew up all over Missouri, but mainly in Flat River (Park Hills). At the age of 17, he joined the Marine Corps where is served honorably for four years, helping to open Camp Pendleton and fought in Quadal Canal and Bogenville. He met the love of his life, Ruby Gunnink in Long Beach, California. They married on February 10, 1945, in Ruby’s hometown of Hull, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 54 years, Ruby (Gunnink) Huffman; second wife of 19 years, Martha (Richardson) Huffman; son, Michael C. Huffman; siblings, Haskell Huffman, Calvin Huffman, June Medcalf, Ruth Muelken and Dema Clark.

Conway is survived by his children, Marilyn Daugherty and husband Larry of Lenexa, KS, Judi Portale (Joe) of Kailua Kona, HI, Patty Huffman (Michael) of Auburn, CA, Patrick Huffman (Sandy) of Escalon, CA, Marcia Huffman of Desloge, MO, Rev. Phil Huffman (Diana) of Mercer, MO; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Poor of Springfield, MO and Paleen Dyess of Biloxi, MS; brother in-law, Norman Gunnink; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held at Bismarck Assembly of God Church, Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM. Reverend Phil Huffman and Reverend Joe Portale will be officiating. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bismarck, with full military honors. The family would like to give special thanks to Legacy Hospice, VA Clinic in Farmington, Mercy Neurology and Brady, for keeping his hair cut.
