Richard Joseph Bouchard

Richard Joseph Bouchard, age 75, of Bonne Terre passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Monday, March 10, 1947, in St. Louis to the late Leo and Louise (Thurman) Bouchard. In addition to his parents, he was  preceded in death by his sister Betsy Peterson; in-laws, Reuben and Edna (LaRose) Counts.

Richard lived a rich and full life that touched so many.  He was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre where he sang in the choir and played guitar in the praise band. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and following the St. Louis Cardinals, but most of all he loved playing the guitar, spending time with his family and wonderful grandchildren. Following graduation from Bonne Terre High School, Richard worked briefly with the Missouri Department of Conservation before serving his country in the United States Army. He then began dairy farming, learning the business working alongside his father-in-law at what eventually became the Counts-Bouchard Dairy. After closing the dairy business, Richard went on to work with the prison system, where Major Bouchard proudly retired as Chief of Custody at the Potosi Correctional Center. Richard will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna (Counts) Bouchard; daughters, Beth (Nathan) Pack, Amy Lohman, and Cara (Chris) Kennard; grandchildren, Makenna, Camryn, Caleb, Luke, Kate, Lauren, Sam, Eli and Emily; siblings, Mike (Barbara) Bouchard, Jennifer Bouchard; and brother-in-law, Larry Peterson.

A memorial visitation will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church in Bonne Terre, Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Dave Wiant officiating. Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Centenary United Methodist Church, 20 Park Avenue, Bonne Terre, or Bonne Terre Memorial Library, 5 SW Main Street, Bonne Terre.
