Richard Lee Edgar passed away at Farmington Presbyterian Manor in Farmington, MO on Monday, March 20, 2023, at age 88. Richard was born January 17, 1935 in Leadwood, Missouri to Jewell Edward Edgar and Reva Helen (Bowling) Edgar. He graduated from Leadwood High School in 1952 and graduated with a pre-engineering degree in 1954 from Flat River Junior College. Richard was in the U S Naval Reserves 1954-56. He continued his education at the School of Architecture at Washington University. He obtained his State of Missouri Architectural license in 1967.Richard married Gwendolyn Langley June 11, 1960. Children include Cara Edgar-Wells (New Mexico), Lee Anthony Edgar (Missouri), and Philip Edgar (Missouri).He worked as an architect at several firms over the years, most notably at two firms. He worked at Hellmuth, Obata & Kassebaum, where he was a Vice President and at Defense Mapping Agency/Aeronautical Center.Rich spent his free time pursuing art, music, gardening/landscaping, woodworking, and photography. He enjoyed spending time in nature, hiking, camping, and traveling to state and national parks.Family predeceasing him were: Jewel Edgar (father), Reva Edgar (mother), Sandra (sister), Roger (brother), Gwendolyn “”Happy” Edgar (wife) and Tony Edgar (son).
Surviving him are his sister Joan Edgar Bess (Dick Bess, Bonne Terre), his daughter Cara Edgar-Wells (New Mexico) and his son Philip Edgar (Missouri).
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. A private burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
