Rita Lorraine Thornton

Rita Lorraine Thornton of Owasso, Oklahoma passed away May 24, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. She was born August 30, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Norman Edward and Inez Berneice (Pennington) Pierson. Rita is survived by her two children: Scott Thornton and wife Kathy of Owasso, Oklahoma and Tiffany Hatch of Durant, Oklahoma. Her brother Gary Pierson and wife Susan of Auburn, Washington are also left to mourn her passing. Rita leaves behind three grandchildren: Natalie Thornton, Skylar Shankle and husband Cortland, and Marshall Hatch, her great grandson, Prince Dean Julian as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Rita loved spending time with her grandchildren, going on vacations with family, relaxing on the beach, hiking in the mountains, and sightseeing. She enjoyed reading, especially mysteries and she also liked to work on jigsaw puzzles. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Mann Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mann Cemetery Association.
