Robert Bernard Skaggs

Robert Skaggs, 72, of Farmington, passed away January 4, 2016 at Parkland Hospital in Farmington and baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection. He was born July 13, 1943 in East St. Louis, to the late Paul R. and Alma G. (Stapleton) Skaggs. Bob joined the Army and was a mechanic stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. He was part of First Maintence Battalion in Manheim. Bob later became an over the road truck driver for 35 years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and had been a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

 

            He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, David, and George Skaggs; sisters, Barbara Cheesebrough, Alice Bowling, and Mary Ottenberg.

 

            Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Bonnie (Ross) Skaggs; three children, Brianna (Mrs. Eric) Shelton of Desloge, Brandolyn (Mrs. Glen) LaChance of Fredericktown, and Braden Skaggs of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Abbriel, Kaiden, Breckyn, Adreanna, Alaniss, Aubrie, Avarie, and Cadence; brother, Joseph Skaggs of Desloge; and sisters, Ida Charter of California, Christina (Mrs. Edward) Brimmer of St. Charles, and Deborah Finch of Arizona; good friends, Sonny Waller and Alfred Kennon, Sr. also survive.

 

            Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills, Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark S. Ebert officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Park Hills. Memorials may be directed to American Kidney Association.
