Robert James Fitzgerald of Imboden, Missouri passed away March 30, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 17, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late Sanfred and Dolly (Neill) Fitzgerald. On June 5, 1965 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Robison who survives. They are the parents of two daughters: Jessica Fitzgerald of Farmington, Missouri and Dolly Anders and husband, Jeff of Florissant, Missouri. In addition to his daughters, Bob is survived by five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, his brother; Tom Fitzgerald and wife, Sharon of Wentzville, Missouri, his sister; Geraldine Meyer of Woodriver, Illinois, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his stepfather; Leslie Kenneth Fitzgerald, his stepmother; Jessie Lee Fitzgerald, his grandson; Jeffrey Anders II, his brother; Charles Fitzgerald and wife, Claudette, and his brother-in-law; Robert Meyer. Bob was a 1956 graduate of McKinley High School and was Valedictorian of his graduating class. He went on to attend Washington University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Electronics. Bob then proudly served our country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the service, he became employed at McDonnell Douglas. Thirty-eight years later he retired from Boeing. Bob loved to read and had a room dedicated to his books. He often read several books at the same time. He also loved computers and could be described as a “computer geek” until his health interfered. He enjoyed being outside and taking walks. Bob was quite introverted, but he did love to pull pranks. He could set up a prank and wait days to pull it off at just the right time. He would just sit back and watch and enjoy his prank. Bob loved his wife and family very much and he will be missed. Memorial services are planned for April 13, 2024 at 12:00 Noon with full military honors following the service. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice.
