Robert James Schwent "Bob", age 74 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his home in Fredericktown, Missouri. He was born on March 10, 1949, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Freddie and Ethel (Link) Schwent.


On March 24, 2012, in Fredericktown, he was united in marriage to Dawn Elaine Walker, she survives at the home.


Other survivors include their children – Greg (Rachel) Schwent of Fredericktown, Joe (Sarah) Brown of Dittmer, Missouri, Dustin (Meghan) Brown of St. Louis, Missouri, Brandon (Alyssa) Brown of Fredericktown, Jessica Weise of Fredericktown, Zachary (Kayla) Sohn of Perryville, Missouri, Taylor Sohn of Brooklyn, New York and Missy Richardson and Dawn (Howard) Vanbooven of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren – Racan and Sekih Schwent, Noah, Vincent, Gabriel and Obadiah Brown, Bridget and Grace Brown, Essie Brown, Kevin and Lilly Weise, Baby Blakely Jo Sohn (due in December), Casey, Madison and Riley, Chelsea and Zack and bonus grandson Hunter Hennen; sisters – Joyce Koller of Fairfax, Virginia and Barbara (Paul) Sitzes of Powhatan, Virginia; surviving in-laws – Donald (Pauline) Walker, Doyle (Alma) Walker, Sharon Smith, Carol Vance, Connie (Tom) Lewandowski; numerous nieces/great nieces and nephews/great nephews.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister – Wilma (Schwent) Scott, brothers-in-law – Cecil Koller, Jewel Scott and Joe Smith.


Bob loved helping people and did so often in the banking industry. He retired as president of First State Community Bank in Fredericktown after 43 years in the banking business; he enjoyed helping the community by serving on several boards throughout his career. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, water skiing, playing cards and Florida; he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan and a Fredericktown Blackcat supporter, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends and his golden doodle, Murphy Ann. Bob was the "FUN UNCLE" who all his nieces and nephews loved to be around.


Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Calvary Church in Fredericktown.


Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, also at Calvary Church in Fredericktown with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating.
