Roger Joe Hampton Sr. of Pacific, Missouri passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 8, 2025. He was 83 years old. Roger was born October 19, 1941 in Annapolis, Missouri the son of the late Richard and Bessie “Irene” (Jackson) Hampton. On July 4, 1963 he was united in marriage to Janice Marie Nelson who survives. They were blessed with sixty-one years of marriage and three children. Their children are Barbara Hampton of Ironton, Missouri, Roger Hampton Jr. and wife, Julie of Ironton, Missouri, and April Leise and husband, Bryan of Pacific, Missouri. Roger was PawPaw to many, many grandchildren. He will be missed by six grandchildren: Daniel (Kylee), Brandi (Carl), Heath (Crystal), Dustin (Adrianne), Linda (Matt), and Lucas, and Andrea; seventeen great grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ashley, Ryan, Chelsey, Jacob, Jayden, Breanna, Hayden, Kason, Braelynn, Gavin, Aaleigha, Lexi, Maddisyn, Haleigh, Parker, and Brooks; and two great-great grandchildren: Bentley and Ryelynn. Roger was preceded in death by all his siblings: three brothers; Jack Hampton, Charles Hampton, and Baby Hampton, and four sisters: Patricia Howard, Sherrian Howard, Norma Hampton, and Lois “Fern” Moynihan. He was also preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Elizabeth Fitzgerald. Roger was very active and a hard worker. He owned Hampton’s grocery store as well as B & R Franklin Auto parts and Hardware. He loved people and talked to everybody. He served as the Iron County Chair for the Democrat Committee, he worked to bring ambulance service to Annapolis, and he served as a special deputy in Annapolis. He also drove a school bus for the Annapolis school district. Roger loved to listen to music. Blues, older country music, and old rock and roll were his favorites. He enjoyed traveling with Janice and they drove all over the United States and Canada in their travels. Roger was a force to be reckoned with who never met a stranger. Most of all he loved his family and was really happy and blessed when everyone came to visit. Time with family was when he was most happy. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Casteel officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
