Mr. Ronald D. "Ron" Short passed away late Tuesday night, Sept. 13, 2011, at his residence at the age of 73 years, 8 months & 12 days. Ron was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Flat River, MO.


Ron grew up in Farmington & graduated in 1955 from Farmington High School. Ron was a Veteran of the US Army, serving as a Air Traffic Controller in the Army and at Lambert International Airport. Ron attended the University of Missouri and graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He was the owner of Dicus Drugs from 1971 -to- 2003, when he sold the store to Country Mart and continued to work there, part-time. Ron served the Farmington School Board for 16 years, with 4 years being Board President. He was a member of the Missouri Pharmacy Association and a Council Member for 25 years. Ron also served the City of Farmington on the Planning & Zoning Board for 12 years. One of his proud accomplishments was assisting our community leaders with regaining 300 acres Farmington had previously donated to the state. This area is now the Industrial Park. Ron was a pilot and a member of the Mineral Area Modeling Association. Fishing was one of his hobbies that he enjoyed with his fishing partner, Bill Greif. They fished many Missouri lakes & enjoyed trips to Canada. Ron was a faithful member of Farmington First Baptist Church for over 60 years.
Survivors Include: his loving wife of 52 years, Carole 'Dugal' Short; his daughter, Suzanne (& Larry) Ross; 2 sons: Steven (& Robin) Short; Michael (& Lisa) Short, all of Farmington. 3 Grandchildren: Stevi Short; Sarah Ross & Carson Short. 2 Step-Grandchildren: Myranda Marshall & Jake Marshall. His mother, Inez Woods; sister, Janis Tinnin. Also surviving are many Nieces & Nephews.

Visitation : Saturday, 8 am - 11 am @ Farmington First Baptist Church.

Memorial Service : Saturday, 11:00 a.m., Sept. 17, 2011

at : Farmington First Baptist Church, with Dr. William C. Miller officiating.

Inurnment follows at : Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington.
