Ronald Forshee, notably known as “Peg Leg” by his family and friends, was a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on Friday, January 16, 1948. Ronald was raised by his loving grandparents, Arthur and Susie Forshee, who adopted him at an early age. Their nurturing guidance shaped him into the kind-hearted and resilient man he became.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents; Arthur and Susie Forshee; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Imagean Mesey; daughter, Rhonda Foshee; granddaughter, Samantha McMullin and brother, Michael Looney.
Ronald lived a life rich in passions and pursuits. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found joy in the great outdoors and shared countless adventures with family and friends. Ronald devoted many years as a gunsmith, showcasing his expertise at shooting matches and crafting a connection with the sport that resonated deeply with him. He had a knack for working on Volkswagens and dune buggies, creating special memories with his loved ones as they tinkered away in the garage.
A man of great humor, Ronald had a unique gift for making people laugh. With an infectious sense of fun, he embraced his role as a jokester, often laughing along with those around him. He would frequently be found watching his favorite show, Gunsmoke, enjoying the simple pleasure of a good story and a hearty laugh.
In addition to his many interests, Ronald’s heart was filled with love for his fur babies—Jimmy Dean, Willie Nelson, Minnie Pearl, and Chloe who brought him immense joy.
Professionally, Ronald made his mark at McDonnell Douglas before continuing his journey at St. Joe Lead Company. His career was a testament to his dedication and hard work.
Above all, Ronald cherished his family. He is survived by his loving spouse, Susan Forshee; his children, Stacy Forshee and fiancé Mike Nash, Clint Forshee, Ronnie Forshee, Jr. and wife Christine, Robin Steinmetz and husband Pete, Matthew Mesey, Christine Hampton and husband Justine; nine grandchildren, Blake McMullin and fiancée Brooklyn White, Jaxon Nash and fiancée Haley Keen, Michael McMullin and wife Lauren, Kyle McMullin, Trevor Forshee and wife Emma, Erica Oakley and husband Michael, Courtney Steinmetz and fiancée Stephen Hubbart, Noah Mesey and Kennedy Forshee; plus seven great- grandchildren a legacy of devotion Ronnie left to his children and grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit of love and laughter. Also, surviving are siblings, Larry Looney and wife Mary, Jeannie McCoy, Tom Slinkard and wife Jamie, Jimmy Slinkard and Lloyd Slinkard and wife Paula; several brothers and sisters in-law; nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Resume on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. until service time of 1:00 P.M. Pastor Larry Allison will be officiating. Burial to follow at Herod Cemetery in Bonne Terre.
