It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Dowell, age 53, who died on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Ryan was born on June 20, 1972, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ryan was a talented athlete who loved baseball and football, where he was All State for the Farmington Knights football team. After high school he served our country in the United States Air Force. He finished his education with a Master’s Degree in Forestry from Mizzou. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington.

Ryan was a loving provider for his family. He loved the outdoors and was involved with projects and working on the family farms with his dad. He had a memorable dry sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. He most loved spending time playing catch with his daughters or just enjoying quiet time with his girls.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Avonell Dowell, and Eugene and Virgina Boyd; sister-in-law, Rhonda Jean (LaPlant) Lapierre; and father-in-law, Ronald “Ron” LaPlant

Ryan is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nicole (LaPlant) Dowell; loving daughters, Hadley Dowell and Lily Dowell; parents, Gary and Joyce (Boyd) Dowell; brothers, Sean Dowell, James Dowell, and sister Jennifer (Terry) Hillman; and mother-in-law, Phyllis (Blankenship) LaPlant. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM at the C.Z. Boyer &Son Taylor Chapel. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington with Father Garson Parra officiating. Interment will be held at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Farmington. A luncheon will follow the service at the Parish Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
