Sam Weir

Sam Weir, 74 of Potosi passed away at his home surrounded by family Wednesday, November 2, 2023. He was born Monday, August 1, 1949 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to the late George Weir and Candacy (Sweet) Weir. Sam was raised Baptist. Sam was a construction worker in his younger days. One of Sam’s hobbies was going to flea markets. He loved the outdoors and being in nature. He spent a lot of time cutting wood. Sam loved his sisters and was very family oriented. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes and making others laugh. Sam was always willing and happy to be able to lend a helping hand to neighbors, family and friends. His genuine caring personality extended to children and animals.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Weir; sisters Annabella, Gerti, Theresa, Maudie, Pansy, Ione, Freda and infant Reva.

Sam is survived by his sister, Dorothy (Jerry) Bush and many special nieces and nephews, family and friends. Sam will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 at C. Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 7, at 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 AM at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. Pastor Ryan Retzer and Pastor Dwight Petete will be officiating. Interment will follow at Germania Cemetery in Bonne Terre.
