Listen to Obituary

Sarah Lorraine Nichols (Watson), lovingly known as “Honey,” passed away on February 22, 2026, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, at the age of 85.

Born on May 13, 1940, in Teneryville, Texas, Sarah was raised with strong roots and a warm spirit that she carried with her throughout her life. Though Texas shaped her early years, she later made many memories elsewhere, including living abroad in Germany while her beloved husband was stationed there with the USAF— a place that remained one of her favorite chapters of life.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Waymon Harold Nichols; her brothers, Tom Watson (wife Katy) and Bill Watson (wife Ann); and her sister, Jane (Watson) Nance, and brother-in-law, Wayne Nance.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Audra Wiant (David Wiant) and Paula Tschirhart (Paul Tschirhart); and her cherished grandchildren, Jacob Tschirhart and twins Austin and Anissa Wiant. Sarah also leaves behind multiple generations of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she deeply loved and cared for.

Sarah found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley and Kris Kristofferson. She could often be found watching tennis or figure skating or enjoying a good Hallmark movie. She had a love for travel and adventure, and her time living in Germany remained close to her heart. Known for her sweet tooth, she was rarely without a piece of candy tucked in her purse or hidden away in a drawer for easy access.

Above all, Sarah loved her family deeply. Being “Honey” to her grandchildren brought her immense joy and purpose in her later years. Her warmth, sweetness, and steady love will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who knew her.

Her life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and the quiet strength of a woman who loved well.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.
