Scott David Mahan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Scott David Mahan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend, who departed this life on September 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on June 30, 1959, in Alton, Illinois, Scott illuminated the lives of those around him with his kindness, generosity, humor, strength, faith, and unwavering way he made people around him feel loved and cared for.

Scott was a true family man. His love for his wife, Tracy, knew no bounds, and together they navigated the joys and challenges of life hand in hand. As a devoted father, he embraced every moment with his sons, Devin and Taylor, always encouraging them to strive for their dreams. His heart swelled with pride as a grandfather, cherishing each laugh, milestone, and hug. His family was his world, and he devoted himself tirelessly to ensuring their happiness.

Scott had a way of touching lives without necessarily realizing how deeply he was loved. Whether he was fishing, telling stories, helping a neighbor, working with his hands, watching his grandchildren or visiting the Black River with his loving dog, Cosmo. He found meaning in the simple moments of life.

During his illness, Scott showed tremendous courage and strength. He was surrounded by family and people who cared deeply for him. His journey was not an easy one, but through it all, he continued to demonstrate the strength, humor, love, and determination that defined who he was.

Professionally, Scott was known as a dedicated line haul truck driver for Old Dominion. His steadfast commitment to safety and excellence earned him the remarkable accomplishment of nearly 2 million safe driving miles—a testament to his hard work and professionalism in the trucking industry. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Mahan; mother, Geraline Mahan; two sons, Devin (Ashley) Mahan and Taylor (Brittany) Mahan; cherished grandchildren, Emma, Dean, and Bella; sister, Steff (Beth) Mahan; and brother, Steve (Carrie) Mahan; nephews, Seth, Joe, and Sam. He also leaves behind his caring mother-in-law, Esther Bennett; father-in-law, Roger (Sharon) Keathley; and sister-in-law, Cindy Keathley.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jarrel Mahan.

Visitation in honor of Scott Mahan will be held at Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Interment will follow the services at Mann Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Scott’s life, sharing memories and stories that reflect his legacy of love and dedication. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.

As we say goodbye to Scott, we take comfort in knowing his journey continues in a better place, forever carrying the love of his family with him.
