Shannon Marie Schopp, 48, of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home. Born on Sunday, July 30, 1978, Shannon filled the lives of those around her with laughter, warmth, and unwavering love.
Shannon was preceded in death by her father, John Leslie Schopp.
She is survived by her loving mother, Lorraine (Atkinson) French; beloved fiancé Jon Baxter who knew her love, kindness and strength deeply; four adoring sons, Austin “Bubby” Higgins, and daughter in law, Desiree, John Higgins, Ethan Baxter, and Elijah Baxter, one adored daughter, Barbara Higgins, two precious, grandchildren, Camella Maple Higgins and Niklaus Michael Dean Higgins; cherished sister, Melissa Willis and brother in-law William; two dear brothers, John Schopp and Samuel Schopp; special aunt that was like a second mother, Elizabeth Ordway; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A woman of God, Shannon's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her interactions with everyone she met. She was known for her good nature and her ability to listen, offering comfort and understanding to her loved ones. Shannon had a special place in her heart for her children, tirelessly providing them with love and support. Her sense of humor and spirited personality left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Shannon had a passionate love of reading and singing, though she had a playful disdain for the summer heat, preferring the crisp air of fall and the magic of Halloween. Her nurturing spirit and strong will made her an indomitable force in the lives of her family.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date; Shannon’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends, and though she has departed from this world, her spirit will remain forever intertwined with those she cherished. May she rest in peace, knowing the love she cultivated will endure for generations to come.
