With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sheila Ruth Stephens, who departed this life on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 61. Sheila was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1964, in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

Sheila was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone she met. She earned her bachelor's degree and devoted her career to nursing, where she cared for others with warmth and dedication. A woman of many talents, Sheila embraced many roles throughout her life, but none brought her greater joy than being a mother and grandmother.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Toshia Dube, Natalie Brooks, Byron Butler and Ellen Bennett; grandchildren, Brittany, Christopher, Lora, Mirissa, and Bella. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Sheila had a deep appreciation for nature and found great happiness tending to her flowers and plants. She had a remarkable green thumb and took pride in creating beauty wherever she lived. She also adored her beloved dogs, Dextor, Diamond, and Ranie who brought her years of faithful companionship. An avid collector of Native American artifacts and memorabilia, Sheila enjoyed learning about and appreciating their rich history and culture.

Known for her generous heart and welcoming spirit, Sheila never met a stranger. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply brighten someone's day with her kindness. The love she shared with family, friends, neighbors, and patients will continue to live on in the memories of those fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Whaley and brother, Mike Whaley.

A celebration of life for Sheila's will be held later date.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Sheila's legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the flowers she so lovingly nurtured.
